The 5.5 Kb-Hind III fragment of pYBC107 containing cellulase gene from Bacillus sp. strain N-4 was inserted into YEpl3. The recombinant plasmid named pYES450 was isolated from E. coli transformants that produced carboxymethyl cellulase(CMCase). The size of pYES450 was 16.2 Kb. pYES450 was transformed to yeast, S. cerevisiae DBY-746 and the expression of CMCase in yeast was investigated. pYES450 was stable in yeast. And when pYES450 was transformed to E. coli, all transformants produced CMCase. Cell lysate of S. cerevisiae contanining pYES450 had also CMCase activity.
